Constitution Day observed at Raj Bhavan Shillong

In a solemn ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Shillong, Constitution Day, also known as ‘Samvidhan Divas’, was observed on Saturday, marking the adoption of the Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949.
The esteemed gathering, led by the Governor of Meghalaya, Phagu Chauhan, and the Governor of Manipur, Ms. Anusuiya Uikey, along with officers and staff of Raj Bhavan, assembled in the Durbar Hall to and took the Constitution Day oath, reciting the Preamble aloud, reaffirming their commitment to the ideals enshrined in this supreme document.
In 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi designated November 26 as Constitution Day while laying the cornerstone for the BR Ambedkar Statue of Equality memorial in Mumbai. This decision coincided with the 125th birth anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, the architect of India’s Constitution.
