Leader of Opposition, Mukul Sangma on Saturday questioned the failure of the Bharatiya Janata Party to order a CBI probe into the misuse of central funds by the autonomous district councils (ADCs).

Sangma, who had also sought the Governor’s intervention recently, told reporters that the BJP does not have to demand but rather can order for a CBI probe into the matter.

“They should write to the Prime Minister and ask him to go as per law. What is preventing BJP from doing that? Is it just for rhetorics and to play to the galleries? They can actually have whatever is appropriate as per law. There is a need for actual actions not just talk,” he said.

Asserting the need for immediate inquiry, the former chief minister said if delay, all the evidence that is available to prove beyond reasonable doubt the act of unprecedented corruption in the GHADC and the other ADCs, will be destroyed.
