The Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organizations (CoMSO) has demanded the state government to reconsider its decision not to allow Christmas carol during this festive season.

“The state government should reconsider its decision not to allow Christmas carol,” CoMSO chairman Robertjune Kharjahrin said while addressing a public meeting in protest against Centre’s delay to implement ILP, held at Motphran on Saturday.

He said that the standard operating procedure (SOP) issued in this regard should be amended by allowing people to follow strict protocol of physical distancing while taking part in Christmas carol.

According to the state government, the decision to come up with SOPs for Christmas and New Year celebrations across the state was to contain and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

However, many have criticized the government as it has allowed opening of market places and other activities.
