    The ongoing communal clash between Meitei and Kuki in Manipur did not deter the illegal drugs suppliers from supplying drugs to the State of Meghalaya.

    This came to light with the arrest of five persons hailing from Manipur on the charge of carrying out drugs trade in Meghalaya.

    The first arrest was of two women namely Hohoi Lhanghal and Ling Haokip with heroin of 197.35 Grams at BMS Fuel Station, Nongsning, East Jaintia Hills District at around 5:00 Am on Sunday.

    Police said the two women from Manipur travelled in one Tourist vehicle of Tata Sumo made bearing registration number MZ-04A-2996 from Silchar towards Khliehriat, East Jaintia Hills District.

    Police informed on same date, a police team proceeded to Shillong and apprehended Ngai Rami @Nano who is the actual receiver of the suspected Heroin from her rented apartment at Nongmensong, Shillong with the help of ANTF team, East Khasi Hills and staff of Nongmensong OP.

    Police informed that three (3) Mobile phones were seized from their possession. The trio are booked under Khliehriat PS Case No. 53 (7) 2023 u/s 21(b)/27 A/29 NDPS Act.

    On the information provided by Ngai Rami @Nano, East Jaintia Hills police on Tuesday proceeded to Shillong and with the help of ANTF team, East Khasi Hills and staff of Rynjah PS apprehended them from Shillong and brought to Khliehriat PS for taking further necessary legal action. They are Khailen Hoakip (42 yrs) and Smti. Lheineihoi Hoakip (40 yrs) from Manipur.
