    The Meghalaya Assembly Committee on Women Empowerment visited West Jaintia Hills District on Tuesday and convened a meeting with relevant line departments to discuss various issues related to women in the district.

    The meeting was headed by MLA Santa Mary Shylla, who was accompanied by other committee members, including Miani D Shira, Adelbert Nongrum, and Mathew Beyondstar Kurbah, in the conference hall of the Soil and Water Conservation Office, Mihmyntdu, Jowai.

    The discussion primarily focused on the initiatives, schemes, assistance, and services provided by various government departments for the welfare of women and children in the district. The programs conducted by these departments were examined to assess their effectiveness in promoting women’s empowerment and welfare.

    Others present at the meeting included Deputy Commissioner of West Jaintia Hills BS Sohliya, IAS, and Superintendent of Police, WJHs, C Syrti, MPS.
