Commercial constructions near water bodies banned in East Jaintia Hills

The District Magistrate, East Jaintia Hills District in an order issued recently under section 144 CrPC has prohibited all constructions of commercial establishments and related works within 50 meters from the high water mark of the water body.

The order was necessitated in view of the fact that the construction of commercial establishments near water bodies may cause damage and endanger the water bodies within the district and because such acts need to be closely monitored and regulated.

All such constructions have to obtain prior permission from the office of the District Magistrate, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat.
