    The Narwan Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited will organize a two day long festival to promote its orange plantation entitled Narwan Orange festival on January 30 and 31 this year at Mooknor Narwan Ground, East Jaintia Hills District.

    Narwan village is famous for its orange plantation, which is sweet and juicy and available till the month of March every year. And due to its uniqueness, the oranges of Narwan have earned their own G.I tag.

    The oranges from Narwan are exported to Dubai and received good response from the people of Dubai.

    Narwan is around 95 kilometres from Shillong and 40 kilometres from Jowai and it falls under Sutnga Saipung Constituency.

    On the aims and objectives of organizing the festival, Waheh Shnong of Narwan Lamsuk Langstang said the festival will enable the people to visit the oranges plantation in the village and also to enthrall the visitors with the natural beauty of their village.

    Leo Shadap who is the Secretary of Narwan Village said during the two days festival there will be live performance by various prominent artists and bands of the region.

    The opening day of the festival will be feature a Marathon race, Awareness program on the adverse affect of drugs, Trekking, live broadcast of the film NUKSA, Fashion Show and live bands.

    The second day will include Cycle Racing, visit to orange plantation , competition for eating oranges and the main highlights of the festival would be the beauty pageant contest for the Miss Narwan Orange Festival 2024.
