Aizawl DC R. Lalramnghaka issued an order banning the practice of fighting animals against each other for entertainment within the jurisdiction of the district.

Anyone who is to act against this order shall be punished under the Indian Penal Code, 1860, Section 188.

It was reported that some residents in Chaltlang area, Maumual organized cock-fighting by betting money. This is against the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, Section 11 and it was also mentioned that this could lead to the spreading of the COVID-19 virus.

The DC informed that no residents of Aizawl are allowed to organize fighting of animals
for entertainment within the area of Aizawl District.

This order is to be followed for two months until otherwise.
