SHILLONG: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Friday said coal mining in the start will resume only after preparation of mining plan is completed.

Talking to media persons here, Tynsong informed that the mining and geology department is working out on how to go aggressively with the preparation of mining plan.

“…although the land owners wanted that coal mining should start immediately but that can be done only when mining plan is completed and send by the state government to the concerned department in Delhi,” he said.

It may be mentioned here that the Supreme Court in its judgment passed on July 3, had finally lifted the ban imposed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) for the past five years, by allowing coal mining to resume in Meghalaya as per the Mines and Minerals Development and Regulation (MMDR) Act.
