SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today said security agencies have made all arrangements to ensure a peaceful Independence Day celebrations in the state.

“The security agencies are very much prepared and will be celebrating Independence Day in a very meaningful way,” Sangma told reporters here on Wednesday.

On the claims of the HNLC to have sneak into Jaintia Hills and erected two flags, the chief minister while saying that he was not aware of the incident said, “…We have received reports from our local agencies on some certain issues (related to the outfit) but I don’t feel it appropriate to share right now.”

Asked, Sangma said there are reports but they are minor and nothing to be concerned about.

“Therefore we are aware of it but I can assure you that the security agencies have made all arrangements and there is no major issue as such. But we as a government we need to make sure that we keep a watch on everything,” he said.
