Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on August 19 inaugurated the newly established Computer Lab at Mawlai Presbyterian College, funded through the Chief Minister’s Development Fund (CMDF). Set up at a cost of Rs 10 lakh, the facility aims to enhance digital learning and provide students with access to modern technological resources.

In his address, the Chief Minister recalled that the need for computers was raised during his previous visit to the college and expressed satisfaction that the request had been fulfilled. He stressed that education remains a priority sector for the government, while acknowledging the many challenges in the state’s education system. Despite these hurdles, he reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening institutions and ensuring access to quality education for all.

He further assured continued support for the college by announcing Rs 10 lakh for the ongoing construction of its building and an additional Rs 3 lakh for the purchase of musical instruments to encourage extracurricular activities. Commending the college for its service to the youth, he underlined the collective role of the church, society, and government in supporting educational institutions.

The programme was attended by members of the governing body, the principal, faculty, church elders, and students, who welcomed the Chief Minister and expressed appreciation for the government’s initiatives to advance education in Meghalaya.
