Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Friday reviewed the COVID-19 situation in the state.

Addressing media persons, Sangma informed cases have come down considerably compared to the last two to three weeks.

“…we have opened up a number of activities, so we want more of such activities to be opened up in order for normalcy to return,” he said.

The CM also informed that the government is also trying to streamline small areas where confusions are there and in regards to the protocols that have been issued by the health department, or by the political or by the DC.

“So all those matters were discussed, so those are micro details and the Deputy Commissioner and chief secretary’s office will come out with notifications,” he said.

Asked, the Chief Minister said that the government has been very clear be it tourism or be it schools, the local authorities will have the power to decide what they want to do.

According to him, if a particular village in Sohra area or in Jaintia Hills or Ri-bhoi do not desire for tourists to come in then they can close the tourism sector there’s no problem in that.
