    SHILLONG: Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma today, inaugurated the Science Stream and its laboratories and the school bus of St Gabriel’s Higher Secondary School, Upper Shillong in a function held in the school which was also attended by Minister, Urban Affairs, Hamletson Dohling.

    Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma congratulating the school on achieving yet another milestone in the form of Science Stream said that it is very satisfying to see the school coming up with the Science stream that will be catering to the needs of the students of the area. He added that the government will try to support schools across the State in every possible manner because it is in schools where minds, thoughts and character are shaped. He informed that while certain policies in the draft National Education Policy are a welcome change the State government has had multiple discussions with all stakeholders so that areas of concerns are addressed and the contributions of various institutions towards Education are not affected. He further urged the students to work hard reminding them of their duties and to inculcate in themselves the values of dedication, discipline and humility that will take them to great heights in life.

    Among others who spoke during the inauguration of the Science Stream and its facilities were, Minister, Urban Affairs, Shri Hamletson Dohling, Archbishop Dominic Jala, Endra Kharkongor, President, School Managing Committee and Fr Paulose Palamattam, Secretary of the School. The school bus of the school was funded by Chief Minister’s Special Rural Development Fund (2018-2019).
