Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday demanded the opposition All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) to apologize for disrespecting the culture of Meghalaya and tribal attire

He was referring to a twitter post by the AITC leader Kirti Azad where he had shared an image of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi wearing the traditional Khasi outfit during his recent visit to Shillong and captioned it as “It is neither male nor female, he is only a priest of fashion.”

Sangma told reporters that the statement of the TMC leader was very insulting to the people of Meghalaya especially to the Khasi tribe.

Slamming the leader for making such an insensitive statement, the chief minister said the concerned political party must apologize for insulting the people of the state and their culture.

    I have not disrespected the
attire, I love it. I am trying to
    express that our Prime Minister
loves to makes a fashion statement.

“The leaders of this political party in the state must also apologize and the individual who has made this statement must apologize for this kind of insulting statement he has made against the people of our state and against the culture of our people,” he demanded.
