Chowna Mein lights up Nampong with Buddha Vihara inauguration, calls for culture-driven progress

Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein stole the spotlight at the 2025 Poi-Lu-Chong cum Buddha Jayanti celebration in Nampong village, Namsai district, where he inaugurated the newly constructed Lungchaseng Buddha Vihara—a symbol of spiritual renewal and communal unity.
The vibrant celebration, filled with chanting, cultural performances, and spiritual discourse, brought together monks, ministers, and devotees from across the region. Traditional rituals like the Tang Thi Kongma procession added colour and depth to the event.
In his keynote address, Mein struck a powerful chord, urging the community to preserve its cultural roots while championing inclusive development. “Education is the foundation of empowerment. Without it, society remains in darkness,” he declared. “Let’s invest in our youth and uplift every voice—men and women alike.”
A commemorative souvenir was released to mark the occasion, underlining the significance of the new vihara as a centre for spiritual learning and cultural preservation.
The event drew an impressive roster of dignitaries, including MP Tapir Gao, Ministers Wangki Lowang and Biyuram Wahge, MLA Zingnu Namchoom, and senior monks such as Ven. Udhaya Baadra and Ven. Kitisara Bhikkhu. Their presence underscored the growing importance of spiritual infrastructure in shaping community identity in Arunachal Pradesh.
