Children’s Day observed in West Khasi Hills

The Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority, O/o Commandant, 4^th MLP Battalion, Sohpian, West Khasi Hills District and O/o Superintendent of Police, West Khasi Hills District in collaboration with the High Court Legal Services Committee, Shillong, District Legal Services Authority, West Khasi Hills District & South West Khasi Hills District, Social Welfare Department, District Child Protection Unit, West Khasi Hills District observed Children’s Day on the 14^th November, 2023 at 4^th Battalion MLP, Sohpian, West Khasi Hills District.

Around 200 children from various Child Care Institutions and school students of West Khasi Hills District took part in the celebration of Children’s Day 2023. The programme included various talent show, games and sports competition, singing & dancing competition for children, exhibition of stalls put up by Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority, stalls of Police Department, West Khasi Hills showcasing their tactical equipments/arms & ammunitions, fire & emergency services tools and equipments, etc.  

The programme was graced by the Justice H.S. Thangkhiew, Chief Justice (Acting), High Court of Meghalaya & Executive Chairman, MSLSA in the august presence of Justice W. Diengdoh, Judge, High Court of Meghalaya & Chairman, High Court Legal Services Committee. Others present were E. Kharumnuid, MHJS, Registrar General, High Court of Meghalaya cum Member Secretary, Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority, K.J. Lyngdoh, MHJS, Registrar (Administration), High Court of Meghalaya, M. Skhemlon, MHJS, District & Sessions Judge cum Chairman, DLSA, West Khasi Hills District, T.T.M. Sangma, MJS, Officer on Special Duty, MSLSA, Superintendent of Police, West Khasi Hills District, Commandant, 4^th Battalion MLP, Sohpian, West Khasi Hills District along with other Judicial Officers, Lawyers, staff of Government Departments, teachers, etc.

The programme ended by prize distribution to the children’s winners of various competitions which were distributed by Justice H.S. Thangkhiew, Chief Justice (Acting), High Court of Meghalaya & Executive Chairman, MSLSA and Justice W. Diengdoh, Judge, High Court of Meghalaya & Chairman, High Court Legal Services Committee, and followed by entertainment led by the Meghalaya Police Cultural Troupe.
