    The Chief Electoral Officer of Meghalaya, Dr BDR Tiwari, IAS chaired a meeting through video conferencing on March 28 with various agency including the Nodal officer of State Police, Income Tax, RBI, SLBC, AAI, BCAS, State Civil Aviation, Enforcement Directorate, Department of Posts, CISF, State Excise, RPF, NCB, DRI, CGST, SCGST, State Transport department, CRPF, Forest department and BSF.

    During the meeting, the CEO sought information from all the Central agencies, State and District administration on seizures of cash, alcohol, drugs, freebies etc during the ongoing Model Code of Conduct in the State.

    The districts have informed that the Flying Squads and the Static Surveillance Teams have already been put in place, while also assuring the CEO that they will be enhance in vigilance to curb the use of money and alcohol for the smooth conduct of the ensuing Lok Sabha Election 2024.

    The CEO and SPNO has requested all the districts, state and central agencies for intensified and coordinated efforts for overall improvement in the seizure and different aspects of election expenditure monitoring.
