Centre sanctions Rs 1200 Cr for development of Chibinang to Tura road

The Centre has sanctioned over Rs 1200 crore for development of the 63kilometers road from Phulbari (Chibinang) to Tura in West Garo Hills district.
This was informed by Vivek Anand Sharma, Executive Engineer (NE) for DG (RD) & SS, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways in a letter to the BJP state general secretary Amitava Saha on August 22.
Saha had on July 8 written to the Centre in regards to the poor condition of Chibinang to Tura road.
“In this regard, it is informed that stretch from Phulbari (near Chibinang) to Tura is notified as NH-127B. The road with lenght of approximately 63 km is being taken up for development to two lane with paved shoulder configuration in 2 packages through JICA funding,” Sharma said.
“Package-I of length 31.50km with total cost of Rs 737 crore is under bidding and work in package-II of 31.72km with total cost of Rs 504 crore has been commenced as on May 16, 2025,” he said while informing that the work in both packages is likely to be completed by 2027.
In a statement, the BJP stated that the sanctioning of Rs 1200 crore by the Centre is another example that BJP stands by its promise of development for all.
