Cenotaph in Tura to be constructed very soon: Marak

Construction of the Cenotaph in Tura will start very soon after the detailed project report (DPR) is approved by government, cabinet minister and chairman of the committee on preservation of Garo culture and heritage Marcuise N Marak informed on Monday. 

Speaking to media persons, Marak said the second round of meeting of the committee was held recently wherein a local architect from Tura was entrusted to prepare DPR for the Cenotaph.

“Accordingly, he (architect) had submitted the DPR yesterday and I have submitted the same to the chief minister this morning. Once the DPR is sanctioned, we will sit for a third round of meeting and we hopefully that the work will start very soon,” he stated.

Asked, the chairman of the committee said earlier Rs 2 crore was sanctioned for the cenotaph but now it has come down to almost Rs 1 crore.
