    A total of Rs 388.1566 lakh have been seized in the form of cash, drugs, freebies etc till March 31 in Meghalaya, which is going to polls along with other states on April 19.

    Releasing a report of the state-wide progressive seizures, chief electoral officer (CEO) Dr BDR Tiwari said, “Total seizures till 31st March, 2024 – (Cash In Lacs) 388.1566.”

    He informed that as part of the Model Code of Conduct for the ensuing Lok Sabha election, 2024 various seizures in the form of cash, drugs, freebies etc. were also made across the State.

    The progressive seizures were made during the period from March 16 to 31.

    Cash (In Lacs) 18.92008; Liquor (Quantity In Litre) 16206.69; Liquor (Monetary Value) 28.94127; Drugs (Quantity In Gms) 123936.91; Drugs (Monetary Value) 139.0892; Precious Metal (Quantity In Gms) 0; Precious Metal (Monetary Value) 0; Freebies (Quantity In Number) 1083; Freebies (Monetary Value) 0.4865; Other Items (Quantity In Number) 334755.75; Other Items (Monetary Value) 200.7196, the report stated.
