  • Cabinet approves farmers’ commission bill, benami transaction prohibition rules

    The state Cabinet on Friday approved the Farmers Empowerment Commission Amendment Bill, 2024.

    Addressing media persons, Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma said that the amendment seeks to increase the chairman’s age from 65 to 70 years.

    He informed that the Cabinet has also approved the Benami Transaction Prohibition Rules, 2024 to allow complaints to be received by the deputy commissioners of respective districts.

    Sangma said that the Meghalaya Public School Service Rules, 2024 has also been approved where all the three public schools – Shillong, Tura and Jowai – are included

    “(All these years) there were no service rules for the teachers and principals working in the Meghalaya public schools and different public schools of the state,” he added.

    Meanwhile, the cabinet also approved the Meghalaya Subordinate Water Resources Engineering Service Rules, 2024.
