    In Meghalaya, thousands of educated unemployed youths applied for few posts of government jobs while bureaucrat are getting appointment on retirement with all pays and perks.

    This came to light in a notification dated 13th September, 2021. No.PLA.5/2021/Pt/21 where Governor of Meghalaya appointed Hector Marwein, IAS Retd. Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Meghalaya as Chairman of the Meghalaya Sustainable Development Council for a period of 1(one) year with effect from 19th March, 2021 to be renewed every year.

    Marwein shall be entitled to monthly remuneration equal to the last pay and allowances while in service under the State Government and shall be reduced by the amount of pension (Basic Pension + DA+ MA) which the Chairman received for service under the State Government.

    The Chairman shall be entitled to POL-200 litres of petrol and 4 litres of mobil oil. House Rent Allowance- as drawn by him on 31st August, 2020. Marwein will get 1 (one) Personal Secretary, 1 (one) Office Peon and 1 (one) Bungalow Peon.

    Further, the notification informed that he can subscribed to 2 (two) Newspapers & 2 (two) Magazines. He will also be granted (one) Vehicle with Driver to be provided by Meghalaya Basin Development Authority (MBDA). He will be get Mobile charges re-imbursement as admissible.

    The Chairman shall be entitled to TA DA as per the entitled Class on the date of his retirement while travelling within and outside the State. An Office Space for him will be arranged by Meghalaya Basin Development Authority (MBDA).

    Mentionably, the Meghalaya Sustainable Development Council is a lesser known entity to the citizens of Meghalaya. There is no record of Meghalaya Sustainable Development Council but there is Meghalaya State Council on Climate Change and Sustainable Development. This Council is designated as the apex body for coordinating and approving climate change related work.
