BSF’s Frontier Headquarter, Umpling declared COVID-19’s Containment Area

The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District has declared the Border Security Force (BSF) Frontier Headquarter Campus, Umpling as a Containment Area as to combat the further spread of COVID-19 (Corona Virus Disease 2019).

In an order issued vide no. DDMA.EKH19/2020/113 Dated Shillong, the 9″ July, 2020, the Government of Meghalaya in exercise of powers conferred under Section 2, 3 & 4 of the Epidemic Disease Act, 1897 has constituted the Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases, COVID-19 Regulations, 2020 and Amendments thereof for Containment of outbreak of COVID-19.

The order further said whereas, detection of positive COVID-19 cases in BSF Frontier Headquarter Campus, Umpling, Shillong with recent travel history from other parts of the country, vulnerable and affected areas required aggressive contact tracing, quarantine, testing and isolation as well as containment in the interest of health of general public against any possible spread of COVID-19.

Therefore in pursuance to Order No.POL.75/2020/P55, Dated 9″ July, 2020 of the Chief Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, it is therefore necessary to declare the entire BSF Frontier Headquarter Campus, Umpling, Shillong as a containment area as to restrict unregulated entry and exit movement on site. Therefore, the following measures for due compliance by the public with immediate effect and remain in force until further order:-

No person/public shall be allowed to move into the containment area and inhabitants within the Containment Area shall not move out.

All the inhabitants within the containment area shall strictly remain inside their home.

No gatherings, events, functions whatsoever of any nature and forms shall be allowed.

No Social, Political, Religious, Economic activities are allowed.

All the shopping establishments of whatsoever nature shall be closed immediately.
The supply of essential and medical requirements will be ensured through various teams formed by the District Administration.

All Government & Private Intuitions located within the boundary of the containment is hereby closed forthwith till further order.

The Block Development Officer of Mawpat Community & Rural Development Block who is the Incident Commander of Zone -V shall be the Supervising Officer of the BSF Frontier Headquarter Campus, Umpling, Shillong which is declared as a Containment area.

Any violation of this order shall entail prosecution under the penal provision of Disaster Management Act, 2005 and relevant sections of Indian Penal Code, warned the order signed by the District Magistrate,  East Khasi Hills District,
