    The Border Security Force in collusion with Meghalaya police once again belied the expectations of drugs dealers in Tura.     

    Acting on tip off given by BSF, a joint operation by troops of 28 Bn BSF and police from P.S Zikzak, South West Garo Hills was conducted on Thursday in which illegal Hemp plants planted in more than half acre of land were destructed by putting them on fire in the front of villagers.

    The incident took place at village Bhoiragopi, South West Garo Hills, a statement issued by the BSF said.The growth of hemp was at the final stage and ripen enough to be consumed as a psychotropic substance, it said.

    The land used for cultivation belongs to Mohiran Hajong (35) s/o Kabirtana Hajong r/o village Bhoiragopi.

    The statement also said that the BSF is working hard to crackdown the syndicates indulged in all activities relating psychotropic substances under NDPS act. BSF intensified its vigil along the Indo-Bangladesh border to prevent any attempt of smuggling of contrabands as well as NDPS substances.
