BSF Eastern Command Additional Director General (ADG) Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal wrapped up a four-day visit to the Meghalaya Frontier to assess operational readiness along the Indo-Bangladesh border.

During his visit, Aggarwal inspected key Border Outposts (BOPs) in the West Jaintia Hills and East Khasi Hills districts. He met with BSF personnel on the ground, commending their resilience and dedication while operating under tough terrain and weather conditions.

Inspector General of BSF Meghalaya Frontier, O.P. Upadhyay, briefed the ADG on the current border situation. Discussions covered recent anti-smuggling efforts, troop deployment strategies, infiltration prevention, and collaboration with local authorities. The ADG praised the BSF’s success in curbing illegal cross-border activities.

Addressing officers during the visit, Aggarwal stressed the importance of vigilance, professionalism, and high morale. He also underscored the role of civic action programs in building trust and cooperation with border communities.

Beyond field assessments, the ADG held high-level meetings with Meghalaya’s civil and police officials to enhance inter-agency coordination. He paid a courtesy call on Governor Chandrashekhar H. Vijayashankar at Raj Bhavan, updating him on the security landscape and the BSF’s proactive measures. Aggarwal also met Chief Secretary D.P. Wahlang to discuss border management, coordination between BSF and civil administration, and the role of state agencies in supporting border security efforts.

The BSF reaffirmed its commitment to securing the nation’s borders while supporting the development and welfare of communities living along the frontier.
