Bridge connecting Jaiaw & Mawlai inaugurated

Deputy Chief Minister, in charge PWD (Roads) Prestone Tynsong on Thursday inaugurated a two lane bridge on Wahumkhrah River at Weiking, Shillong in the presence of MLAs P T Sawkmie, Adelbert Nongrum and Pyniaid Sing Syiem, Mawlai MDC Teibor Pathaw and Chief Engineer (NH), PWD (Roads) G K Marak among others.

During his brief speech, Tynsong hoped that the bridge will ease the traffic congestion to a certain extent and also will be beneficial to the residents of Mawlai, Jaiaw and Shillong city as a whole.

He also informed that the project was delayed due to various issues including the Covid – 19 pandemic which hampered the various developmental progresses in the state.

It may be mentioned that the bridge was funded under the Central Road & Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) for the year 2018-19, at a cost of Rs 5 crores.
