  • Body of former BCL leader returned to Bangladesh at Dawki Tamabil

    A large crew of Bangladeshi thronged the ICP Dawki Tamabil to witness the handling over and taking over of the mortal remains of former General Secretary of the Bangladesh Chhatra League Ishaque Ali Khan Panna on Saturday.

    Ishaque Ali Khan Panna body was recovered on the evening of 26th August 2024 at the betel nut plantation located in the Dona Bhoi Area of East Jaintia Hills District, which is approximately 1.5 kilometers from the Indo Bangladesh border. His passport was also recovered from the body. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Khliehriat for Post-Mortem examination.

    The body of the former General Secretary of the Bangladesh Chhatra League reached the ICP Dawki at 7am on Saturday morning.

    The authority of the Bangladesh Border Guard, the Border Security Force and the Meghalaya Police were present in the ICP Dawki for the handing over and taking over of the Panna body.

    The BGB initially refused to take over the body as they raised issues over the clarity of photocopies of the post mortem report. Fresh copies of the post mortem were provided to the BGB and they were satisfied and took over th body at 11 am.
