Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma was greeted with protest staged by the NGOs against his alleged refusal to remove Rakesh Sangma as the chief executive member (CEM) of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC).

Protesters including senior citizens and local residents waved black flags and shouting slogans “go back” as the chief minister’s convoy was passing through their areas under Ampati in South West Garo Hills.

The chief minister was on his way to lay the foundation stone for the Rerapara C&RD Block and to inaugurate the Self Help Group Mela in the district.

Meanwhile, effigies of the chief minister, the GHADC chief and MDCs were also burnt by protesters in Rajabala as a mark of protest against election of Rakesh as the CEM.
