The opposition Congress has asserted that the BJP is yet to gain ground in the state as it is not being accepted by the people here.

“The people of the state of Meghalaya do not accept BJP,” Congress spokesperson and Rangsakona legislator, Zenith Sangma said.

His statement came as a reaction to the BJP gearing up for the elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC), which is slated to be held on April 9.

Sangma also said people’s rejecting the saffron party cold be seen in the preceding elections in the state.
