BJP state president Ernest Mawrie on Wednesday said the party will ensure 5-10 sitting MLAs will join its fold by November.

“Reports of MLAs joining us will be welcomed and we shall ensure 5-10 sitting MLAs will join us by November,” Mawrie said in a statement informing that the state election committee will be notified at the earliest.

He said the BJP Meghalaya will soon restructure by bringing about organisational changes right from state office bearers to district and all mandals with all inactive mandals to be reorganized.

According to him, the party will try to achieve booth level organisation in near about 20 plus constituencies where the winning stake is high by the end of September.

Mawrie further informed that there are 5-6 aspiring candidates in some constituencies with whom we are trying to strike a formula in which all candidates will work together for the party.

“Those whose survey report is good, will get the ticket,” he said while adding that “if needed we will soon restructure the organisational setup in all  mondals. The party will take a decision after getting a report from booth level sashaktikaran abhiyan committee.”

He said in some of the cases where an aspiring candidate or sitting MLA from another party is keen on joining BJP then we will advise our party karyakartas to join the aspiring candidate.

Mawrie also said that the party will ensure that the procedure for full organisational restructuring will be completed by this month and the state election committee will scrutinize all the requirements as per the constitutional mandate of the party.

“We shall soon launch a programme for large scale membership drive in all mandals. Our party will leave no stone unturned to ensure getting a double digit in this election,” he added.
