BJP sounds war drums for BTC polls: Sarma, Sonowal lead power-packed strategy huddle in Guwahati

With the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections approaching, the BJP is shifting into high gear. In a show of political muscle and meticulous planning, the party held a marathon strategy meeting at its state headquarters, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan in Guwahati on Thursday.
The closed-door session was chaired by Assam BJP president and MP Dilip Saikia, and saw the presence of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, and BJP Assam Prabhari Harish Dwivedi. The high-powered leaders led intensive discussions focused on electoral strategy, booth-level mobilisation, and organisational muscle-building across all five BTC districts.
The meeting brought together an extensive lineup of stakeholders—state office bearers, presidents of all BJP morchas, district presidents and general secretaries of BTC districts, election core committee members, BTC prabharis and sah-prabharis, ministers, mandal heads, and digital media teams—all under one roof to align on a unified game plan.
Chief Minister Sarma, delivering the keynote address, rallied the party’s grassroots workers to commit fully to expanding the BJP’s organisational reach in every corner of the BTC. He announced that he will personally tour every BTC constituency between August 2 and August 20, sending a clear message about the seriousness of the party’s campaign.
Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal echoed the sentiment, calling on the party cadre to earn people’s trust through “relentless effort, integrity, and discipline.”
BJP’s Assam in-charge Harish Dwivedi and Organisational General Secretary G.R. Ravindra Raju laid out a roadmap for tightening internal coordination and maximising ground-level impact in the run-up to the polls.
Following the primary session, a more focused meeting of senior office bearers, led by Dilip Saikia and joined again by Sarma and Dwivedi, continued late into the night. The extended discussions, scheduled to go on until 10 PM, included further reviews of constituency-wise preparedness, digital strategy, and grassroots feedback loops.
Party insiders described the gathering as one of the most comprehensive electoral planning exercises held in recent months—clear evidence that the BJP is gearing up for a high-stakes showdown in the BTC.
