BJP slams Congress for opposing shutdown by business owners to show solidarity with victims of Pahalgam terror attack

The state BJP on Monday slammed the Congress for allegedly opposing the expression of grief by the Shillong’s business owners through a shutdown as a mark of solidarity with the victims of the recent Pahalgam terror attack.
In a statement, Susuki Pariat, President of Meghalaya BJP Mahila Morcha said, “At a time when the nation is reeling with grief at the gruesome murder of innocents in Pahalgam, when the world is stunned by the brutality of terrorists in Kashmir, here comes Congress with its typical anti national stance yet again.”
She said that the shutdown of businesses in Greater Shillong is meant to be voluntary, an act of solidarity with the grieving families who lost their loved ones in the terrorist act adding Congress, however, is so far removed from the nation’s sentiment that it has no problems with opposing an act that reflects India’s collective sorrow. Which essentially proves the party’s anti people credentials.
Further, Pariat stated, “As women we feel the pain of our sisters whose husbands were shot in front of their eyes in Pahalgam. As a nation we are shocked by such a despicable act; but Congress opposes an expression of grief by Shillong’s business owners through a shutdown that’s wilful and not coerced. The fact that this opposition comes from the Mahila Morcha of Congress, made up of wives and mothers, makes it all the more appalling.”
“Anti people and anti national attitude seems to have ingrained itself in the DNA of Vadra-Gandhi Congress. How else does one explain the utterances of the MPMC President? She is only towing the lines of Manishankar Aiyyar and Saiffudin Soz who have practically given a clean chit to Pakistan,” she added.
