BJP national secretary and national spokesperson, as well as in-charge for Meghalaya and Nagaland Anil K Antony on Friday announced the start of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Campaign from the party office in Shillong. The campaign, designed to invoke a sense of pride and ownership amongst every Indian citizen, is an initiative by Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, and enters its third year in 2024. Over the last two years, the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Campaign, which was created to coincide with the Azadi ka Mahotsav or celebration of 75th year of Independence, has emerged as the largest festival of nationalism across the country.

Speaking on the occasion, Anil K Antony stated, “For a very long time, our relationship with our own national flag was formal and distant. However, this endeavour by our Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, has now transformed our interaction with the tri-colour into a democratic, public affair, ensuring a personal connection with every citizen of the country. This year too, the Prime Minister has given a clarion call to every Indian to proudly display the national flag in their homes and wherever else possible.”

“Various initiatives and programs have been planned across the length and breadth of the nation to make this festival of Independence a truly participatory one. Between 11th to 14th of August all assembly constituencies in the country will witness Tiranga yatras in the form of bike rallies, marathons, walks or padyatras and the likes. We appeal to all citizens in Meghalaya to participate in all programs in large numbers”, Antony added.

The state prabhari or in-charge also said, “The party is honouring all freedom fighters on the 13th of August, a long and inspirational list, which also includes freedom fighters from Meghalaya like U Tirot Sing, U Kiang Nongbah and Pa Togan Sngma amongst others. On the 14th of August a commemoration ceremony will be held to recount the horrors of partition. Through this program, we want to send out a message to Rahul Gandhi led Congress and other opposition parties to cease their attempts to divide the nation on the basis of religion, caste and community. We also appeal to the people to not fall prey to such divisive politics, as divisive agendas come with tremendous damage and cost of lives. The Honourable Prime Minister has given a call of sabka saath, sabka vikaas and we are on course to being a developed nation by 2047. We cannot allow divisive politics to derail our goal.”

“For the Prime Minister, The North East is a special focus area and 6 lakh crores have been spent on connectivity and development, to ensure complete integration of the North East with the rest of the country. The North East is now India’s gateway to the far east and ASEAN countries and a new era of prosperity is dawning on the North Eastern states. We appeal to all citizens of the North East to celebrate this new found status by participating in this festival by raising the national flag in their homes on the 15th of August; let’s make this event a mass movement of patriotism,” Anil K Antony concluded.
