BJP MDC from Tura Bernard N Marak has asked the GHADC chief executive member (CEM) Benedict R Marak to come out clear on the status of the Rs 36.40 crore sanctioned by the Centre before taking any step against the employees of the Council.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Marak said that the CEM should stop targetting the GHADC employees and clarify on the alleged diversion of Rs 36.40 crore in the last financial year.

“BJP government at the Centre has sanctioned Rs 91 crore fot the three district councils in Meghalaya, of which, GHADC was allocated Rs 36.40 crore but mysteriously, this amount went missing when GHADC was under lock and key,” he said.

The MDC said this is a serious matter and should be looked into immediately as the EC refuse to pay the salaries of the employees but the funds meant for GHADC are illegally diverted.

“I was informed that the top officials of GHADC worked from their pseudo office in Shillong hotel and diverted the fund to other head under the State and to cover up the manipulation, they are trying to force the office open with threats,” Marak said.
