A state BJP delegation led by MLA Sanbor Shullai and State President Rikman Momin recently met Union Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju with a proposal to upgrade Red Cross Hospital, Laban by replacing the existing dilapidated Assam type structure with a new building and modern amenities.

Sanbor Shullai stated that the Red Cross Hospital under South Shillong constituency needs to be upgraded, so thousands of BPL families can continue to access quality treatment.

He further stated that the hospital where he was born should become one of the best maternity hospitals in Shillong.

The MLA further stated that during the discussions, the union minister showed keen interest in rebuilding the hospital with the detailed project report shared with the department of Minority Affairs after the elections.

The BJP delegation will soon meet Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and request him to send the proposal to the department of Minority Affairs on priority basis.

Shullai said that it’s his pledge to turn this hospital into reality during his present tenure.

The BJP MLA also stressed that work more and talk less should be the mantra in politics.
