Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Electronics & IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Friday said the BJP will comply with the direction of the Election Commission by sharing information of their candidates with criminal backgrounds.

“This has been a mandatory requirement for many years now that every candidate has to advertise – I think twice before the polling date his antecedence, his criminal records and the BJP candidates will do the same. Whether in Karnataka, Pondicherry, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, we follow the rules and norms laid down by the Election Commission,” he told reporters.

Stating that the BJP’s proposition to the people of Meghalaya is very distinctly different, Chandrasekhar said, “We are here to serve the people of Meghalaya and to work together and create a brighter future and it is for people and voters of Meghalaya to respond to that or to be swayed by the opportunistic politics of a dynasty party or party imported from West Bengal. That is for the voters of Meghalaya to decide.”

“I will not second guess what the response will be but we will certainly work very hard to gain their trust,” he added.

He said the BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi can build a much better future for Meghalaya than any other parties that have existed for the last 50 years.

“Whether it is a dynasty party or whether it is a party that has recently discovered that West Bengal is shaky and therefore they need to look at other states, we think we can do a better job and serve people of Meghalaya much better and that is our proposition and we hope the voters give us a chance,” the union minister asserted.
