BJP Tura MDC Bernard N Marak has threatened to file FIR against NREGA suppliers and vendors for allegedly deducting 50% -60% of the amount meant for supply of materials.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Marak said, “NREGA suppliers and vendors are deducting 50% of the amount meant for material supply for the works of villagers. This is eminent in most of the C&RD Blocks in Garo Hills.”

“Some of these suppliers said they have to cut the amount because they have to pay the political leaders and some officials out of the sanctioned amount. This is the reason why many villages could not complete the work in time,” he alleged.

Urging villagers to report such incidents, Marak said, “I would urge the villagers from whom 50 to 60% is being deducted by the suppliers and vendors to report immediately to my office and we will file FIR against those who are depriving the villagers. We will inform the CM office and Deputy Commissioners about this corrupt practices.”
