    A Block Development Officer (BDO) and an assistant BDO were arrested by a team of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Directorate for bribery from Assam’s Bongaigaon district on Friday.

    The BDO of Srijangraam Development Block, Khurseeda Khanam in conspiracy with assistant BDO Nekib Ahmed demanded Rs 36,000 as a bribe from an individual for payment against the bill.

    “A trap was laid today by a team of Vigilance and Anti Corruption Directorate at the office of the BDI in Srijangram. Nekib Ahmed was caught red-handed in the office chamber of the BDO immediately after he accepted Rs 15,000 as part of the demanded bribe,” police said.

    The bribe money was also recovered and seized, they said.

    In the same trap, BDO Khurseeda Khanam was also caught for demanding a bribe from the individual,” they also said.

    A case has been registered vide ACB cae number 63/2024 under section 61(2) BNS read with section 7 (b) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
