    The Deputy Commissioner (Excise), East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat on Friday permitted all bars in the district to open with immediate effect subject to strict observance of the COVID- related protocols.

    “All bars shall be allowed to function with only 50 percent of the seating capacity and the timing shall be between 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM and shall be subject to strict regulation. Pregnant women and persons above 65 years shall not be allowed, physical distancing of at least 6 feet shall be strictly maintained at all times as per health advisory, wearing of masks shall be strictly regulated and check at the entry point,” the order said.

    Furthermore, adequate manpower shall be deployed by the bar management so as to ensure strict compliance of protocol. The entrance of a bar should have Hand Sanitizer and Thermal Screening provision. It is advisable to use disposable paper napkins instead of cloth napkins and, Menus if put to use shall be a disposable one.

    The order stated that Posters/ Standees/ AV media on preventive measures and COVID protocols to be displayed permanently. All staff and customers shall ensure strict compliance to COVID protocol as mandated by the Health Department.
