    JOWAI: A group of Bangladeshi intruded into the territory of India in West Jaintia Hills District on Wednesday and attacked BSF personnel and civilians in the areas.

    According to police, this morning at 3 AM on receipt of information that a house was attacked at Amdoh village on the IBB by BD nationals.

    Immediately OC Dawki PS rushed to the area with police party.

    Police said that at around 12 AM a group of around 10 to 15 BD nationals came to the house of Pratap Bareh of Amdoh village near Rongtila BOP 5 kms away from Dawki and looted cash mobiles and 1 SBBL gun.

    In defense Bareh had shot 1 round at the intruders before the gun was snatched from him. He was beaten up by them after they overpowered him.

    Police said another group of 10 to 15 BD nationals at 12 30 AM gheraoed 2 BSF personnel near Rongtila BOP assaulted them leading to the injury of a BSF personnel and snatched their weapons.

    After search of the jungle area around the BSF post the weapons snatched from the BSF has been recovered. Both injured persons were taken to Dawki PHC for medical treatment.

    In order to take stock of the situation, the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Eastern Range) Meghalaya rushed Dawki and the places of occurrence to supervise the law and order arrangements in the presence of DC SP SDO SDPO and officers of the BSF.
