    On the occasion of PAN – India Awareness and outreach as part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ an awareness program on NALSA child friendly legal Service to Children and their Protection Scheme was organised by District Legal Service Authority West Jaintia Hills in the District Library Auditorium, Mynthong, Jowai on Friday.

    Justice HS Thangkhiew, Judge High Court of Meghalaya & Executive Chairman Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority attended the programme in the presence of E Kharumnuid, MHJS,  Registrar General, Garod LSN Dykes, Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills, B Marak, Superintendent of Police, West Jaintia Hills.

    Addressing the gathering Justice HS Thankiew highlighted on the objectives of the Scheme that outlines the basic rights and benefits educating the public on child rights and their protection available.

    To further elaborate RB Kynjing, District Child Protection Officer highlighted on ICPS and JJ Act. The District Programme Officer, ICDS Y Najiar highlighted the ICDS Scheme. The representative from the District School Education Officer (DSEO) briefed on the SSA Scheme. DSP (Crime) CW Lyngdoh appraised the roles of the Special Juvenile Police unit.

    Two legal care and support centres inaugurates in East Jaintia Hills District

    Justice Thangkhiew also distributed prize and certificates to winners of the various competitions conducted by the District Legal Service Authority, Jowai.

    Earlier B Khriam, District & Sessions Judge cum Chairperson, District Legal
    Services Authority in her welcome address informed that various awareness programme, competitions, cycle rally have been conducted to create awareness to the public which will be concluded on 14th November, 2021.
