The state government has been able to reduce the Aggregated Technical and Commercial Losses.

Informing this on Friday, Power Minister Abu Taher Mondal said, “We were able to bring down the AT&C losses to below 18 percent.”

At present, the A&TC losses have been reduced to 16 percent.

Mondal said that the A&TC losses were around 35 percent during the last 3-4 years back. “However, from 2023 onwards, we were able to reduce it to below 18 per cent.”

According to him, due to this the state was awarded for energy efficiency for two consecutive times since last year.

“Eight states are eligible for that (award) and in that second position we got consecutively last year and this year,” the minister said while adding that he had instructed his officers to ensure that the state gets first prize next time.

He attributed many factors behind the achievement and said, “We have done things meticulously and now our review is on the sub-divisional level to identify the vulnerable areas and where the losses are more.”

“We will also be putting separate meters in the transformer itself to monitor how much theft or leakage there is so that we can put pressure on our officers that things are okay,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the government has said that it is also committed to increasing the generation capacity of the power sector that will promote economic development and growth.
