    The Meghalaya Assembly Committee on Women Empowerment reviewed the status of Crime against Women and Children in East Jaiñtia Hills on Tuesday.

    Chairperson of the Committee, Santa Mary Shylla, chaired the meetings along with members of the Committee, including Miani D Shira MLA, Adelbert Nongrum MLA, Gabriel Wahlang MLA, Marthon J. Sangma MLA and Mathew B Kurbah MLA.

    The Committee Chairperson emphasized the significance of speedy justice delivery, particularly in POCSO cases.

    She stated that she has directed district authorities to ensure that the victims receive the necessary care throughout the entire process.

    Shylla said that the Committee will follow up on the cases and hold similar meetings in all districts of the state.

    The meeting at East Jaintia Hills was held at the DC’s office, Khliehriat. Abhilash Baranwal IAS Deputy Commissioner of East Jaintia Hills, Banraplang Jyrwa, MPS Addl. SP, East Jaintia Hills, Khliehriat, and other officials of the district were in attendance.

    The Committee also inspected the one stop centre at Khliehriat.
