Assembly’s committee on ST, SC & OBC holds meeting with Kerala committee in Shillong

The Assembly’s Committee on Welfare of Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, and Other Backward Classes under the chairmanship of Amlarem legislator Lahkmen Rymbui on Monday held a meeting with the Sister Committee from the Kerala Legislative Assembly at the Annexe Hall, Rilbong, Shillong here.

The meeting was attended by members of the Meghalaya Committee – Rupa M. Marak (MLA, Dadenggre) and Gabriel Wahlang (MLA, Nongstoin). Also present were officials from the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Secretariat: Malthus S Sangma, Secretary; R Nongsteng, Under Secretary; and L Mynsong, Committee Officer.

The Kerala delegation was led by Acting Chairman A Prabhakaran and included Members Kurukkoli Moideen (MLA, Tirur), KK Ramachandran (MLA, Puthukkad), G Stephen (MLA, Aruvikkara), TJ Vinod (MLA, Ernakulam), and K Babu (MLA, Thripunithura).

Officials accompanying the Kerala delegation included Nanda Kumar R Under Secretary; Anil Kumar GK, Assistant Section Officer; Sandhya S Nair, Assembly Attendant; and Asha Karunakaran, Reporter Grade-I, from the Kerala Legislative Assembly Secretariat.

The meeting fostered discussions on welfare initiatives, best practices, and opportunities for collaboration between the two State Legislatures in the area of welfare for Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, and Other Backward Classes.
