Assembly Dy.Speaker attends the 18th CPA held at Itanagar

Meghalaya Assembly Deputy Speaker  Timothy D. Shira on Thursday participated at the 18th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association India Region Zone III Conference in Itanagar.

The Conference was inaugurated by Om Birla, Speaker, Lok Sabha.

Speaking on the topic “Challenges of North East Region and way forward”, the Deputy Speaker spoke on the values and objectives of the CPA, peaceful co-existence and development among the North Eastern States.

He also spoke on the necessity for improving road, rail and air connectivity for economic development of the region.
He referred to the Look East Policy which will enhance both tourism and international trade with the South East Asian Countries, and boost the economy of the North Eastern States.
