    A total of 71.11 per voter turnout was recorded in five constituencies in Assam during the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections on Friday.

    The voting was conducted in five constituencies- Darrang-Udalguri, Nagaon, Diphu, Silchar and Karimganj constituencies.

    Darrang-Udalguri recorded the highest 72.99% voter turnout while Silchar recorded the lowest turnout at 65.57.

    Till 9 pm, the voter turnout in Diphu is 69.65%, Karimganj 71.12% and Nagaon 71.88%.

    The voter turnout may further go up as voting in many remote and rural polling stations is yet to be reported to the Election Commission of India (ECI).

    The cancellation of three major training 12507 Trivandrum-Silchar Express, 12508 Silchar-Trivandrum Express and 15616 Silchar-Guwahati Express have caused low voter turnout in minority-dominated constituencies in Nagaon, Silchar and Karimganj.

    The trains were cancelled due to the derailment of an engine of a goods train at KM 110/7 between Jatinga Lampur and New Harangajao station under the Lumding division of NF Railway on Thursday.

    Under 4- Darrang-Udalguri, 77.60% voter turnout was recorded in the Rangia LAC segment, 80.20% in Kamalpur, 69.00% in Tamulpur, 68.00% in Goreswar, 70.67% in Bhergaon, 66.27% in Udalguri, 71.23% in Mazbat, 72.36% in Tangla, 73.10% in  Sipajhar, 72.30% in Mangaldai and 78.40% turnout was recorded in  Dalgaon LAC segment.

    Under 6 Diphu (ST) constituency, 66.53% voter turnout was recorded in  Bokajan LAC segment, 72.60% in Howraghat, 70.20% in Diphu (ST), 67.01% in Rongkhang, 65.20% in Amri and 73.50% voter turnout was recorded in Haflong LAC segment.

    Under 7-Karimganj Lok Sabha constituency, 66.35% voter turnout was recorded in Hailakandi LAC segment, 68.25% in Algapur-Katlicherra, 73.00% in  Karimganj North, 76% in Karinganj South, 72.00% in  Patharkandi and 70.00% voter turnout was recorded in Ram Krishna Nagar LAC segment.

    Under the 8-Silchar parliamentary constituency, 62.45% voter turnout was recorded in Lakhipur LAC segment, 63.80% in Udharbond, 64.21% in Katigorah, 70.20% in  Borkhola, 63.90% in Silchar, 70.01% in Sonai and 64.20% voter turnout was recorded in Dholai LAC segment.

    Under 9 Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency, 79.60% voter turnout was recorded in Jagiroad LAC segment, 63.78% in Laharighat, 77.01% in Morigaon, 72.30% in  Dhing, 71.60% in Rupahihat, 71.40% in Samaguri, 70.10% in Nagaon-Batadrava and 71.20% voter turnout was recorded in Raha LAC segment.

    In Nagaon constituency, BJP candidate Suresh Borah cast his vote at Uriagaon Girls ME School Polling Station in the morning.

    State water resource minister Pijush Hazarika along with his family cast his vote at  Ahatguri Morakolong LP School in the morning.

    Congress candidate Pradyut Bordoloi cast his vote at Pachim Borkhat High School Polling Station.

    BJP candidate Amarsing Tisso cast his vote at Siloni LP School polling station at around 11.30 am on Friday.

     In Darrang-Udalguri constituency, Congress candidate Madhav Rajabongshi cast his vote at No 151 Bamunpara LP School Polling Station in Mangaldai in the morning.

    BPF candidate Durga Das Boro cast his vote at 108 Keshab Kanta Baruah Girls High School Polling Station at Bhergaon in the morning.

    Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) CEM Tuliram Rionghang cast his vote at Ram Rongpi LP School Polling Station in West Karbi Anglong district.

    Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (DHAC) Debolal Gorlosa cast his vote Maibang HS School Polling Borrth around 8 am.

    State power minister Nandita Gorlosa cast her vote at Haflong Town Razi Community Hall at around 11.30 am.

    In Silchar, BJP candidate and state minister Parimal Suklabaidya cast his vote at No 118 Irongmara LP School Polling station.

    Congress candidate Surjya Kanta Sarkar cast his vote Gurucharan College Polling Station in Silchar at around 8.10 am on Friday.

    In Karimganj, BJP candidate Kripanath Mollah cast his vote Bidyanagar Hindi LP School polling station.

    AIUDF candidate Sahabul Islam Choidhur cast his vote at Kesor Tapan LP School Polling Station.
