    The Kolkata CTC Auctions witnessed a historic moment on Tuesday as Hookhmol tea set a new world record, surpassing its previous highest price of Rs 801.

    The crowning achievement came with Invoice No C157 BOPSM, which sold at an astounding Rs 1,506 per kg.

    This record-breaking lot was sold by Assam Tea Brokers Private Limited and purchased by Mihir Gold Tea Company. “The phenomenal success of Hookhmol tea is a testament to its exceptional quality and the dedicated efforts behind its production,” said Nisheeth Bijawat, director of Assam Tea Brokers Pvt Ltd (ATBPL), Kolkata.

    Situated in Dibrugarh, Assam, Hookhmol has been gaining widespread recognition for its award-winning CTC tea.

    “Bhaskar Hazarika, the director of LK Tea Company, has been the driving force behind Hookhmol’s success. His visionary approach and unwavering commitment to crafting high-quality tea have earned him a well-deserved reputation in Assam’s tea industry,” Bijawat said.

    “We are a quality focussed business. Hookhmol is a combination of three plantations. All the plantations in and around Rajgarh area of Dibrugarh my father did over 30 years of struggle- New Kailaashpur TE at Tengakhat, Dibrugarh and Nagajanka Tea Estate at Mariani,” said Bhaskar Hazarika, director of LK Tea Company.

    “We bring the leaves of all three plantations to our factory at Diksam block, Dibrugarh and manufacture Hookhmol there. Last year we manufactured 4,70,000 kg of tea. This year we intend to produce 5 lakh kg of Hookhmol tea,” Hazarika said.

    “Quality tea is always got amazing prices in Auctions. We feel very proud on these Assam Teas which are now going their prestigious position in the world tea market,” said Dinesh Bihani, secretary, Guwahati Tea Auction Buyers Association (GTABA), Guwahati.
