Assam’s first licensed woman winemaker showcases startup at Biofach India

Aditi Gohain from Kahilipara Bhagadattapur, Guwahati, made a mark at Biofach India, held at the India Export Mart in Noida from August 31 to September 1. An incubatee of NEATEHUB, Assam Agricultural University (AAU), Jorhat, Gohain represented her startup Aiseng Winery, which drew high footfall and received strong trade enquiries from traders and export companies across the country.
Visitors praised Aiseng Winery for its attractive packaging and innovative bottling design. Gohain is notably the first person in Assam to obtain a license to establish and operate a winery producing alcoholic beverages. Her entrepreneurial journey has been supported by her husband, Pranjal Phukan.
As an agripreneur, Gohain has focused on innovation by utilising local fruits and herbs of Assam. At the exhibition, she showcased her unique product line, including Ginger Honey Wine, Blue Herbal Wine, and a diabetic-friendly Herbal Wine, which became major crowd-pullers.
Expressing gratitude to AAU and NEATEHUB for their mentorship and support, Gohain said the platform has been instrumental in promoting her startup. She also expressed hope that her journey would inspire the youth of Assam to explore entrepreneurship and value addition in agriculture.
