Assam Raj Bhavan partners with IIT Guwahati for nation’s first digital transformation project of a Governor’s office

In a landmark move towards e-governance, Assam Raj Bhavan has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with IIT Guwahati to digitally transform its operations – the first initiative of its kind by any Raj Bhavan in India.
The MoA was signed on Wednesday at a function held at Raj Bhavan in the presence of Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya. Meenakshi Sundaram, Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor, and Prof. Devendra Jalihal, Director of IIT Guwahati, formalized the agreement.
Under this partnership, IIT Guwahati will act as the knowledge partner and consultant for the development and implementation of the Gyan Kalyan Project – a comprehensive digital governance initiative aimed at streamlining and modernizing the operations of the Governor’s office.
The project is designed to improve the efficiency, transparency, and responsiveness of Raj Bhavan’s functioning. It will incorporate advanced digital tools and IT infrastructure with 360-degree security and data protection protocols to enhance public service delivery.
Key components of the Gyan Kalyan Project include the development of the Chancellor’s Portal and Governor’s Office Portal, Digitization of engagements related to the Governor’s visits, public grievances, and petitions and the integration of systems for managing statutory, executive, legislative, and discretionary functions.
This digital push aligns with the broader vision of Digital India, setting a precedent for other Raj Bhavans across the country to adopt modern, tech-driven governance systems.
