    The Deputy Commissioner Level, Joint Border Meeting of West Jaintia Hills and West Karbi Anglong, the Superintendent of Police West Jaintia Hills and other officials of the two districts along with leaders of Pnar and Karbi meets to restore peace and tranquility in Khanduli area on Tuesday.

    During the meeting, various issues relating to the ongoing tension at Khanduli were discussed after the clash between Karbi and Pnar broke out. It was resolved that both the administration will work hand in hand in order to bring back peace and normalcy in the area.

    The meeting decided to convene a peace meeting which will be attended by the district magistrate from both the district and representatives from the Pnar and Karbi communities.

    “A good number of representatives from the Pnar community attended the meeting however from the Karbi community only few attended as they did not get information on time,” the statement said.

    The prevailing law and order situation was discussed in the meeting however, from the Karbi community they had stated that as they are few in number they cannot come to any sort of conclusion. It was also decided that in order to resolve this issue another peace meeting will be held at the earliest and till such time both the community will maintain peace and refrain from any violent activity.
